Tenby's Royal Charter celebrations are set to end with a bang, it was revealed this week.

A firework finale has been planned to round off the celebrations marking the 600th anniversary of the granting of a Royal Charter by Henry IV in 1402, giving the burgesses the right to elect a Mayor, four-time former Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward, told her fellow Tenby town councillors on Tuesday night.

The fireworks, on Sunday, September 29, would be preceded by a torchlight parade by local school children from the De Valence Pavilion to Tenby Harbour.

With a band leading the procession, the parade would leave the De Valence at 7.30 pm, with the firework display beginning at 8.15.

Clr. Mrs. Ward explained that invitations had gone out to all the local schools to take part in the torchlight parade, and the children were asked to either wear medieval or Welsh costume.
