A cheque for £500 was donated to the Pembrokeshire Sibling Group this week by the Dean Bevzy Evans Charity - a charity set up in memory of Dean by his family and friends in Pembroke.
In the last six years, they have raised in excess of £50,000 through their events, spring and winter balls and a summer event of cricket with a difference. Most of their money has gone to the ITU and SCBU in Withybush, but they have also donated to Portfield School and Pembroke Dock Community School Autistic Units as their objectives are to help children in various ways.
The Pembrokeshire Sibling Group was set up 15 years ago by a small group of professional people who realised that there was no support for the siblings of disabled and special needs children.
This year, the group has lost its council funding and transport costs are increasing for their various day and residential trips that the volunteers within the Pembrokeshire siblings group organise..
"We have donated £500 towards this, as it seems a perfect opportunity to achieve our goals of helping children and such a fantastic group of volunteers," said Matthew Dennison, of the Dean Bevzy Evans Charity.
