Clive Lewis, a retired RAF and MOD engineering craftsman from Stonelea, New Hedges, is once again on the move for charity.

An ardent marathon walker, Clive will be kicking his heels on a 110-mile trek down the Cotswolds from Chipping Camden to Bath, commencing Sunday, May 11.

He has successfully completed three previous long walks, raising thousands of pounds for diabetic research projects, local hospital equipment and children's diabetic holidays, the latter being boosted by a £1,000 grant from BBC's Children in Need.

He has also walked countless miles as a fund-raiser for Kidney Research.

Notable successes include the Snowdonia and Pembrokeshire National Parks and across Britain from west to east.

Ironically, the hard work, stated Clive, is to secure donations and sponsorship and finding complimentary overnight accommodation to make each project viable.

As a result, much midnight oil has been burned with letter writing and quite a bit of shoe leather has been lost approaching numerous people - and that is before Clive even sets off each time.

It is all worth it in the end, however - well, so he tells us.

Many television, film and sports personalities have supported him over the years, including Gary Mabbutt, of Spurs and England, Danny McGrain, of Celtic and Scotland, Robert Shaw, the Antarctic Exhibition leader, the late Robert Maxwell, Sir Harry Secombe and Sir Geraint Evans. Also Sir Cliff Richard, Cliff Mitchelmore and John Paul Getty Jr., to name a few.
