If you are planning to decorate your home in time for Christmas and are looking for inspiration, then a visit to Kilgetty is a must.

Not only have the village's festive street lights been switched on, but local residents have decked the halls, windows, roofs and walls of their homes with a spectacular display of coloured lights and motifs to help bring some Yuletide cheer to the wintry nights.

Since the grand switch-on on Saturday night, a large number of people have visited St. Mary's Place and Carmarthen Road to view the illuminations and have been captivated by the display, which many reckon to be one of the best in West Wales.

This year, it is hoped that the residents' efforts will raise funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation as a collection box has been placed at the entrance to St. Mary's Place and indeed in the first four nights of the lights being on, a total of £380 has been collected.

"The atmosphere here on Saturday night when we had the switch-on was absolutely amazing," commented Audrey Thomas, whose husband Peter has been instrumental in creating the winter wonderland exhibition, and as a result has encouraged 12 neighbours to enter into the spirit and adorn their homes with brighly lit decorations.

"There was a huge crowd waiting for the switch-on and what a reception everyone received when the lights were put on," continued Audrey, who explained that their property, 'Donreka', 1 St. Mary's Place, has been decorated with an amazing 180 sets of lights, together with a Nativity scene, soldiers, snowmen, carol singers and various Father Christmas statues.

"Everywhere really does looks brilliant and everyone has worked hard to create a really colourful display."
