Students studying on the Welsh Baccalaureate at Pembrokeshire College have been working alongside staff from the Paul Sartori Foundation to help raise funds and produce promotional flyers for the local charity.
Joanne Horton, donations development officer for the charity, commented: "Being given the chance to come into the college and work alongside the students is a fabulous opportunity for the charity. We are always keen to raise awareness of the work undertaken by the Foundation and are keen to recruit new volunteers, especially from the younger generation as they are the future generation."
The developing relationship between the college and the Paul Sartori Foundation is mutually beneficial. The charity is able to draw upon the students' skills in areas such as design and media, while the charity is able to offer students live briefs to work on, the opportunity to gain customer service skills through valuable work placements in its chain of Sartori Stores as well as encouraging them to gain skills in planning, marketing, team working and communication.
Totally reliant on volunteers and support from the local community, over 50 students took part in the workshops running a bookstall, selling Christmas cards and designing information flyers for the charity.
Able to offer volunteering opportunities in fashion, retail, project management and business administration, the charity is able to provide students with great experiences that they can put on their CV's and use on their UCAS statements as they prepare for employment or university.
It is hoped the college and the Paul Sartori Foundation will continue to work together with some exciting projects in the pipeline which could reap huge benefits for both the charity and students at the college.
