Sir,
My mother found out this year that she had tongue cancer - a total shock for us all.
This is a very rare type of cancer and people should really be made aware of it and to check their mouths for any type of changes.
She underwent a major operation to remove the tumour and also the lymph nodes on her neck. She has now been given the all clear and needs no further treatment.
However, the staff of the Pembroke HDU Ward in Morriston Hospital were excellent and as a thank you we are holding a charity prize bingo night in Carew Memorial Hall on August 25. Doors open 6.30 pm and eyes down at 7 pm.
There are lots of excellent prizes to be won such as tickets to the Blue Lagoon, Oakwood and Folly Farm, so it should be a good night! Children are most welcome to come along too. If anyone wants to donate a prize for the bingo or the raffle we would very much appreciate it!
S. Cole,
29 Kesteven Court,
Carew.
