Sir, This summer, Tenby House Hotel held two charity nights to raise funds for Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, in memory of Griff Fisher. On August 11, even though the weather was wet, the evening was enjoyed by many families and friends inside Tenby House, with raffles and events for the children. Once again, Scott Quinnell gave his time, together with his colleague Gareth Bowen - and many children had photographs taken with them, and their T-shirts autographed. On August 25, the weather was much kinder, and we were able to have the firework display at the end of the evening. I would like to thank Tenby Fire Brigade for their donation towards the final amount raised, with special thanks to all the local attractions and businesses who donated raffle prizes, without whose continuing support such charity fund-raising events would not be so successful. The 'barbecue chefs' on both evenings - Martyn, Penson and Toe - had fairly easy work, as all their rolls had been cut by Kayleigh, Jemma and Carmel earlier, but they did keep the flow going, both in filling the hundreds of pork rolls and beefburgers sold, and also with their pints of lager! Luckily Sandra was on hand to keep them all in check! Brenda had to have her hands bleached after wrapping hundreds of Lucky Dip prizes in newspapers for both evenings, and would like to inform all her friends that their Christmas presents will be in plastic bags this year. Emma and Donna painted children's faces for the fund, as well as the faces of nearly all the staff, who seemed to be enjoying themselves more than the children. On both evenings, James Welch entertained everyone, announcing the raffle, and he has kindly agreed to perform this service for us on an annual basis. I am sure that if any organisation needs the services of James for a charity event he will be happy to assist. During the time since Griff died, over £15,000 has been forwarded to Ward 10 - this would not have been possible without the support of the local community. To everyone involved in making both evenings so successful - including all the staff at Tenby House, and friends too many to mention - a very big 'thank you' - your support really does benefit the patients and their families on Ward 10. Lesley, Martyn and Kelly Fisher,
