The Rotary Club of Tenby's guest speaker for this month's dinner meeting was local charity fund- raiser, Mr. Peter Kraus, of Pembroke. Mr. Kraus, who has previously been awarded with a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Pembroke, (the highest award given out by Rotary worldwide), enthralled everyone with the undoubted energy and enthusiasm that he has inevitably thrown into the many fund-raising activities and charities that he has been involved with since becoming actively involved in charitable fund- raising in 1999, following the sad loss of his father. Since then, Mr. Kraus, with the support of many local people and businesses has raised tens of thousands of pounds, initially for Macmillan Nurses, and then for other causes such as the Wales Air Ambulance, the Tanyard Youth Group, Pembroke, the children of Chernobyl, Withybush Hospital, and more recently his 'Over the Rainbow, Dream Come True' initiative, which aims to realise lifetime ambitions for children with serious life threatening illnesses. Mr. Kraus also spoke of his recent association with the 'Martin Roberts Children's Fund,' a charity set up in 1999 in memory of the late Withybush Hospital surgeon, which looks to support children within the county. A sincere vote of thanks was given to Mr. Kraus by Rotarian Bob Storey, who said that the members present, could not fail but to be impressed with the amount of effort and enthusiasm that he had so successfully put in to the many causes that he had supported. He also pledged that the club would look to support him with his endeavours, wherever possible in the future.
