Battle lines were drawn in St. Florence recently in a charity football challenge, as Dyfed Powys Police over 40s team took on the local over 40s team to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Spectators were treated to a game of high drama and high jinx as the players did their best to outmanoeuvre and outwit each other.
The final score was 3-2 to the home team; a rematch has been promised.
Help for Heroes has been chosen by Dyfed Powys Police as they are taking part in the national police campaign to raise £1,000,000 for the cause.
Team captain for the police, Steve Wilkins, said: "We wanted to raise money for the force charity, so we organised a football match.
"It was a great afternoon and we raised over £1,700.
"People from all over the force area took part and it was nice to see the game being played in good spirit.
"Special thanks to St. Florence AFC for letting us use their pitch; Mark Phillips, landlord at the Parsonage Inn, for feeding the team and spectators after the match; and members of the local team for agreeing to take part, in particular Mark McSweeney, who agreed to referee the match," he added.
