A young girl from Kilgetty is set to have her long locks cut, not in the name of fashion, but all for a good cause.

Ten-year-old Lucy Marklew, of Ferndale, Station Road, Kilgetty, who is a pupil at Stepaside School, is raising money for 'Little Princesses Trust', a charity that provides wigs and hair pieces for children who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or through other illnesses.

Two years ago, Lucy committed to growing her hair for the cause after being moved by the heartache caused from a relative of hers who lost her hair through illness.

Lucy's hair, once cut, will be sent off to China to a company that makes wigs especially designed for children all over the world for the Little Princesses Trust.

Expert stylist Andrew Price will be getting his scissors ready in his Tenby salon for Lucy's chop, which will take place on March 17.

Lucy has already raised over £150 for the sponsored cut, with anyone wishing to donate to the cause, able to do so by calling 01834 813803.
