THE cream of Pembrokeshire's young musicians, singers and dancers will display their talents at a special concert this month.
The Shalom Fundraisers, in association with the Pembrokeshire County Council Music Service and with sponsorship from Chevron Pembroke Refinery, will present Festival of Youth at Folly Farm, Begelly, on Saturday March 28.
The varied and excellent programme has been put together by Chris Llewellyn, county music co-ordinator. It features the Pembrokeshire Schools Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Wind Band, violin soloist Lily Whitehurst, flute soloist Rebecca Griffiths, vocal duet Jessica Cale and Lucy Morris, and members of the Hynes School of Dancing.
The money raised by the concert will go towards Shalom House, St. David's - Pembrokeshire's first palliative care respite/daycare centre. Since opening its doors in November 2007, Shalom House has supported over 80 people with life-limiting illnesses. The vision for the future is to provide overnight respite care at Shalom's specially adapted unit.
Heather Phippen, who heads the concert organising team, said: "This musical event will be a showcase for our talented young people and it will also raise money for a very worthwhile cause."
And Phil Thompson, of Chevron, said: "We are delighted to support Shalom House and the special service it provides for the people of Pembrokeshire."
The concert on March 28 starts at 7.30 pm and tickets are available from Folly Farm Box Office, Pembroke Book Shop, The Music Service at County Hall and Shalom fundraisers.
