Nearly £900 was raised for Cancer Research as the result of a successful charity auction held at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty, last week. Organised by the Saundersfoot Committee of Cancer Research UK Cymru, a total of 102 items came under the hammer of 'auctioneer', Mr. Paul Lewis, of the village's Antique Shop and Tea Rooms. Among the items were Christmas hampers; a teddy bear; lunches at local hotels; a Tony Blair PM signed pen; a No. 11 Downing Street book from Gordon Brown; a tour of the House of Commons; signed photographs of Ann Robinson and many more from local shops... and even one-ton of cement. Mr. George Cavell, vice-chairman, thanked Mr. Paul Lewis for an excellent job well done, the RAOB Club, who gave the premises free, Mr. Brian Howells and Mr. Roger Hayes for all their assistance, and all who attended the event and went home with empty wallets and purses! The grand total raised was £896.62. Watch this space for details of a spring auction.
