The St. Mary’s Soupermen group, which is still growing, has had yet another very busy year.
During the year we held a superb Easter meal, a second very successful church fete (considering the weather!), a well attended Harvest Supper, a most enjoyable Christmas Lunch, a Lenten Lunch and three film evenings.
We have also provided buffets for various church members which were much appreciated, as were the wine and canapés and other culinary delights served at various church functions
We feel these events bring the church communities together, thereby strengthening friendships and fostering new ones.
All in all, a very busy and enjoyable year!
Importantly, our efforts have been self-financing, which has enabled us to earmark another £1,000 for charity, namely the Tenby Talking Newspaper and the Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackall’s, nominated charity, Hafal.
Indeed, both charities were presented with cheques for £500 at St. Mary’s on Sunday by Mr. Terry Evans, secretary of the Soupermen. Mr. Newman Vincent represented the Tenby Talking Newspaper and Mr. Steve Roberts represented Hafal.
Both charities play an important role in the local community and beyond, the Tenby Talking Newspaper reaching as far as Kent, for example, making local news accessible to those who have sight problems, while Hafal helps people with serious mental illness and their families to work towards recovery.
We hope this year will be at least as successful and enjoyable as last year, after which we will be in a position to donate further sums to various good causes. A huge thank you to all involved especially those who regularly support us.
Terry Evans (Hon Sec)
