Pembrokeshire County Council staff at Thornton Depot have been busy collecting for hampers to give to vulnerable older people in the county over the festive season.

The idea originally came from Sharon James in the business unit, who wanted to do something to benefit older people locally this Christmas after sadly losing her father earlier this year.

Her request for help was taken up enthusiastically by other members of staff at the depot, who raised a total of £165 to buy items for the hampers, as well as donating tins, confectionary, groceries and smaller gifts.

Ten hampers have been created in total which will be given to clients of Age Concern in Pembrokeshire. As well as food and drink, there are items such as hot water bottles and thermal mugs.

Sharon said she was very grateful to the many members of staff who helped, and she also thanked Celtic Flowers, who supplied the decoration and packaging for the hampers.

The hampers will be delivered personally by staff to recipients all over Pembrokeshire.
