Sir,
I have read with interest the letters protesting about the hideous new information boards which have been inflicted on the town. Surely those responsible have now realised their mistake and are about to remove them?
I am in complete agreement with Anne Bowles (Letters, November 27). Yes, the old lifeboat shed should be removed and additionally, no more of the coast path covered with ugly houses that no-one wants to buy.
Tenby has grown in concrete, but lost almost all the amenities it had 50 years ago. There was a tennis club, two cinemas, and even 10 years ago, the De Valence hosted an operetta at Eastertime and plays during the summer.
Even more recently, the electrical shop, plumbers, butchers, vegetable, wine, sports shops, the Ford garage and Woolworths have folded.
Why would anyone want to live in Tenby now? It's a ghost town in the winter with only cafes, £1 shops and leisurewear shops for the summer visitors.
And yet developers go on getting planning permission to build more and more flats for more and more absent owners. What has happened? Will there be any residents in Tenby in the winter months in 20 years time?
Jenny Thomas,
Crackwell Street,
Tenby.
