A NEW exhibition of work by well-known local artist Susan Sands has its private view at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery on Friday, March 23, opening to the public the next day. This sale exhibition will feature for the first time in Wales some of Susan Sands's pictures of India, amongst other works. Susan regards exhibitions as 'milestones along the way... particularly one woman shows and the 'Meet the Artist' sessions that go with them.' She said: "It's a chance to reconnect with one's audience, to acknowledge progress in communication with them in print and painting that has gone on since the last one and to celebrate another step towards understanding oneself and the world around." The sale exhibition will run until April 15 and there will be a 'Meet the Artist' day on Wednesday, March 28, 1.30 - 4 pm. The museum is now registered with the Principality Collectorplan scheme, making the purchases of your favourite art works even easier.

AS part of the Story of Tenby Gallery at Tenby Museum, there is a newly-designed display showing Tenby during the two world wars. Featuring authentic artefacts, including an ARP uniform and tin of powdered eggs, the display was designed and created by volunteer Doug Perry, administrative officer Thelma Mort and collections manager Mark Lewis. Said Mark: "The gallery was initiated by ex- honorary curator John Beynon and we have stayed true to the original idea. However, we have revamped quite a large proportion of the gallery to show visitors more variety of the artefacts that we have in the museum and to present the story of Tenby in a more visual sense. "A change, as they say, is as good as a rest and we hope that more local people will come up to appreciate the colourful history of their town." The museum is open Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm (last admissions 4.30 pm). At present, the Lower Gallery (geology and archaeology) is currently undergoing building work and is so closed to the public. However, the rest of the museum is fully accessible.
