Experimental changes to the start and finish dates of the Tenby pedestrianisation scheme are being made this year.
In recent years, the prohibition on vehicular traffic entering the Walled Town during the summer has run from the Monday following the Long Course Weekend to the Friday preceding Ironman Wales.
This has varied the duration that pedestrianisation runs and would have resulted in a particularly short scheme this year.
For 2018, Pembrokeshire County Council will fix the start and finish dates for the traffic restriction and examine - over the duration of the trial - any implications that this will have, before deciding on whether to make the changes permanent.
Under an Experimental Amendment to the Tenby Prohibition Order (Pedestrianisation Scheme), the start will coincide with the first Monday in July, with the finish being the second Friday in September.
This will see the 2018 scheme commence on Monday, July 2, and conclude on Friday, September 14.
The daily start and finish times of 11 am to 5.30 pm remain unchanged.
It should also be noted, that the pedestrianisation scheme will be suspended over the two weekends of Long Course (July 14 and 15) and Ironman (September 8 and 9) to enable the setting-up and implementation of those events.
Once pedestrianisation finishes, the county council will be pleased to receive feedback on the experimental scheme.
