Mr. Graham John, chair of the Pembroke and District CAB Trustee Board, at a recent function to mark the retirement of the bureau manager, paid tribute to the achievements of Mrs. Penny Brickle in maintaining an efficient and widespread service in the Pembrokeshire area during a period of intense social and technological change.
Presentations were made on behalf of the board, staff and volunteers.
In reply, Mrs. Brickle reflected upon her 20 years with the CAB, of which the last 14 were as manager. The CAB service now had outreaches in Tenby, Kilgetty and Pembroke as well as the main office in Meyrick Street, Pembroke Dock.
A specialist debt advice service funded by the Legal Services Commission is also available as well as a new project funded by the Welsh Assembly titled 'Better Advice Better Health' which is intended to provide direct adviser/patient contact in local medical centres.
In the short-term this advice is available at Tenby Guildhall on Monday mornings and Neyland Town Hall on Wednesday mornings.
Mrs. Brickle expressed her deep gratitude to the numerous volunteers who had provided willing support during her period as manager and had made the bureau such a success. She wished the new manager, Ms Serretta Bebb, and the bureau similar success in meeting future challenges and thanked the trustee board for its help and encouragement.
Pembroke Dock CAB is keen to recruit suitable volunteers for advice and administrative work. If you are interested in the work of the Citizens Advice Bureau generally, the Better Advice: Better Health project or would like to be considered for volunteer work, please contact Serretta, Tony or Alison at the bureau on (01646) 683805 or call during opening hours, you will be made most welcome and will be helping to provide a most worthwhile service to the local community.
