Sir,
I am always pleased when All Fools Day has come and gone, but, alas, it appears that some people make it an all-year festival.
Please explain to us why the town councillors, backed up by the county councillors, welcome the granting of planning permission in respect of the shed (old lifeboat station)?
Do they really believe that the rusting shed and its rotting supports is an icon on which the local tourist trade depends? Do they actually believe that the building of a private house improves the wonder of Castle Hill?
Are we to believe that had the shed not been there planning permission would be agreed? More to the point, are we to be told that any other plans to add further houses on Castle Hill would also be passed?
Ivor Jenkins,
Cheshire.
