Sir,

Towns and villages across the county, in particular our coastal communities, do so very much in organising events that attract locals and visitors alike.

Last Saturday, together with the new Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, I was pleased to be present at the Carten bike ride that finished in Tenby.

A total of 2,300 cyclists descended on Tenby after a gruelling 90-mile bike ride from our capital city. They were greeted by enthusiastic crowds and many families and friends who had travelled to the town to greet their heroes.

Tenby was buzzing, a huge boost to the local economy at this very well-organised event so well managed and co-ordinated by the Tenby Lions Club.

This is just an example of one of many events that help our county to be known for not just a seasonal destination any more, but a county that is open for business all year round.

I think organisers and the volunteers for hundreds and hundreds of events which take place should be given a big pat on the back.
