At the annual dinner of Whitland District Male Voice Choir at Plas Hyfryd, Narberth, earlier this month, the above cyclists were presented with a certificate of achievement each, for cycling from Whitland to the Albert Hall, London, for Prostate Cymru.

To date, they have raised over £8,000, with donations still coming in. Choir president Ian Gravell and chairman Dorian Phillips presented the certificates.

The weekends seem empty now that the sponsored cycle is over. The cyclists covered over 300 miles collecting sponsorship from other choirs participating in the Massed Welsh Choir Festival at the Albert Hall on May 19, plus 270 miles from Whitland to the Albert Hall. A very proud feat accomplished with determination, stamina and generosity. The choir is very proud of their achievements, and the links forged with other choirs. Well done boys!

On Tuesday, May 29, we had a concert at St. John’ Church, Tenby, with funds being raised for the church. It was a great evening, and the soloist was the very talented Sioned Beynon, who sang a range of songs and mesmerised the choir and the audience.

We are competing in the Gwyl Fawr in Cardigan on Friday, June 29, and are busy practising under Hefina Jones’s direction and Heather Jenkins accompanist. Looking forward to the challenge.

On Tuesday, July 3, we have another concert at St. Johns Church, Tenby, with proceeds going to Guide Dogs for the Blind. So please come and support!

We are still looking for new members to join our choir. If you are interested, please attend our practice sessions on Thursday evenings at the Memorial Hall, Whitland, at 7.30 pm. You can sit and listen or join in, no obligation. You can also contact our secretary, Hugh Lewis, on 01994 240437
