A student from Saundersfoot has won the award for best student in the intermediate construction award category at the Coleg Ceredigion annual awards ceremony.

Lloyd Wilson was presented with his award by Allison Coleman, chair of the board of governors at Coleg Ceredigion, during the ceremony last week, in recognition of his hard work and determination throughout his time at the college.

Lloyd, 22, enrolled on the foundation construction award in carpentry at Coleg Ceredigion in 2007, and following successful completion of his first year, he went on to study the NVQ Level 2 in bench joinery.

He is currently studying the NVQ Level 3 in bench joinery and is employed by James Ratford Bridge Ltd., Haverfordwest.

Huw Thomas, carpentry lecturer at Coleg Ceredigion, commented: "Lloyd has shown a great deal of determination throughout his time at Coleg Ceredigion.

"The fact that Lloyd travels over 40 miles one-way to reach Coleg Ceredigion for his course, from the furthest reaches of Pembrokeshire, proves his eagerness to do well and succeed. He is well on his way to achieving a successful and promising career."
