TENBY Museum and Art Gallery is pleased to be hosting a sales exhibition of watercolours by local artist Graham Hadlow. A Yorkshireman by birth, Graham studied Creative Design at Loughborough College of Education. In 1970, he joined the staff at Greenhill School, Tenby, where he taught ceramics, and was appointed Head of Art and Design in 1986. Art has always played an important part in Graham's life, but it was not until 1988 that he began to devote more of his leisure time to painting, inspired by the attractive and varied landscape of South West Wales. Having achieved some success with his work, he took the decision in 1998 to leave teaching in order to concentrate full- time on his painting. His subjects are wide-ranging, but Graham has a particular affection for boats and estuaries. Wide skies play their part in producing atmospheric watercolours. Graham has had several one-man exhibitions at venues in Pembrokeshire as well as exhibiting widely in Wales and England. The exhibition, 'Celtic Horizons' was opened by fellow artist and friend Bob Reeves. Of Graham's work, he said: "On the walls of this gallery hangs the work of a man who personifies the soul of the true artist. Look at the half light of that mysterious time between day and night, look at the blue of summer skies, look at the rain squalls smoking across hillsides - all captured by the sheer talent of a master of his craft." The exhibition is open daily from 10 am - 5 pm (last admission 4.30 pm) and closes on Sunday, December 3.
