A CROSS TRAINING ALTERNATIVE: SWIMMING and POOL WORK

Swimming is a great means of improving cardiovascular fitness as well as flexibility and strength. In comparison to activities that feature repetitive ground impact forces such as jogging, swimming places less stress on the joints due to the buoyancy effect of the water. This in turn can alleviate muscle soreness and indirectly reduce the incidence of injury.

Different swimming strokes use different muscle groups. Alternating freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly enable us to get a whole body workout, something that no other single aerobic exercise can do to the same extent.
