THE GLORY OF WHOLEGRAINS
Wholegrain means that all three elements of the grain are present. It is not stripped of the fibre-rich outer layer, the inner part, or the starchy part.
Wholegrains can contain up to 75 per cent more nutrients than refined cereals. They contain fibre and B vitamins, as well as other nutrients.
Approximately 95 per cent of adults don’t eat enough of them and one in three of us don’t eat any at all! Experts recommend three portions daily.
Good ones are wholegrain breakfast cereals, wholemeal flours, brown rice, wholemeal pasta, wholemeal bread, quinoa, wholegrain cereal bars and oatcakes.
