Seventeen cyclists who took part in a Celtic challenge charity cycle ride earlier this year have raised over £9,000 for two good causes. The 'Magnificent Seventeen' took part in a Welsh/ Irish sponsored cycle in April. "We raised £9,434.99, which was split between Ward 10 at Withybush Hospital and Cancer Research," said organiser, Martin James, of Martin James Health Club, Greenacres, Kilgetty. "I lost my sister, Judy Kelly, to cancer last year and I wanted to try and raise some money to help the research into a cure for cancer and to help improve the facilities in hospital for other patients and their families," explained Martin. The group cycled from Narberth to Holyhead, took the ferry across to Dublin and then cycled from Dublin to Rosslare, then took the ferry to Fishguard and finally cycled back to Narberth. "The cycle was quite strenuous and we did get a lot of rain on the first day, but I will personally remember the fun and companionship that we all experienced," said Martin, who would like to thank everyone who helped organise the event and particularly all the sponsors.
