In response to a growing demand for non-religious funerals in Pembrokeshire, Rosie Taylor has now been joined by Mike Ashbridge as a humanist funeral celebrant.

Both are accredited by the British Humanist Association which means that they have undergone extensive training, are regularly reviewed and must also undertake continuous professional development.

Humanist funerals are personal and dignified ceremonies for those who have chosen to live without religion.

Whilst there is a typical order of ceremony, the content of each ceremony varies as it closely reflects the wishes and personality of the person who has died and their family.

Mike or Rosie will work hard to ensure that they create a humanist ceremony that uniquely and affectionately honours the life of the deceased, leading to a ceremony with warmth and meaning.

With more people expressing an interest in humanist funeral ceremonies, Rosie and Mike have now put together a presentation for societies and clubs.

The presentation covers not only an explanation of humanist funerals, but also a look at current trends in funerals.

The talks will also focus on the campaign by the Dying Matters Coalition that encourages people to talk about their wishes towards the end of their lives, including where they want to die and their funeral plans, with friends, family and loved ones.

Mike said: "I can assure people that it is not an intense and gloomy talk, but rather a consideration of something which will happen to us all and which we mostly shy away from talking about.

"People should find it very life affirming and we also include for some light relief, the latest top 10 song choices and the most amusing gravestone epitaphs that we can find.

"So if you're curious about a humanist funeral ceremony or would like to understand more about how you can shape your funeral choices please get in touch."
