Organisations from across Pembrokeshire celebrated the 50th anniversary of the European Union last week. Project officers and organisations from the public, private and voluntary sector, who have helped deliver Objective I projects in the County, joined the Pembrokeshire Partnership Management Board (PPMB) at a special event in County Hall to mark Europe Day on May 9. The Europe Day event featured stands promoting successful Objective 1 projects and provided an opportunity to network with a range of EU funded organisations. The PPMB brochure 'What has Objective I done for me?' which details how the european funding programme has benefited the people of Pembrokeshire, was also launched at the event. The Treaty of Rome, which was signed 50 years ago on March 25, 1957, laid the foundations for what we know today as the European Union. Events took place across the Continent to celebrate the achievements of the EU and to mark Europe Day. Pembrokeshire County Council's european affairs team also staged an exhibition in County Hall last week (8-11 May) to mark the historic occasion. For a copy of the brochure, please contact County Hall on 01437 776181/76, or ask at reception for a copy of the brochure from the european affairs team.
