TENBY residents are being urged to share memories of worship in their local community with People's Collection Wales, a website dedicated to preserving the story of Wales.

As a focus for many communities, the local place of worship is somewhere where generations celebrate milestones in their lives that are often photographed.

Old snaps and stories from baptisms to barmitzvahs and mosques to marriages can be shared with the site to help capture a true picture of the range of religions and traditions in Wales through the years.

The People's Collection Wales is a contemporary, bilingual website dedicated to sharing the history and experience of Wales and its people with the world. The collection is a constantly growing resource for the people of Wales to learn about their history, and anybody can submit content in a variety of formats.

Over 44,000 items - from old photographs to video stories - can be found in the collection. Uploading an item to People's Collection Wales is easy and can be done in three steps. Simply go to the home page, create a login and password, and then upload your item. Your content will then appear on the website.

Rheinallt Ffoster-Jones, of People's Collection Wales, said: "People's Collection Wales belongs to the people and will grow and become even better as more and more become involved in its development.

"Content about how Welsh people have worshipped throughout the years is hugely valuable. Photographs could show generations of religious communities coming together to mark key dates in the calendar, as well as ceremonies surrounding rites of passage, weddings and funerals. Wales is a diverse nation and People's Collection Wales wants to celebrate the traditions of all groups of people."

If you have historical photographs to share, then your content could shape how Wales and its history are understood.
