Pembrokeshire Libraries will be joining a worldwide celebration of the birthday of much-loved author Roald Dahl’s next week.

Roald Dahl Day takes place annually on September 13, and this year is extra special as it marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Several libraries in Pembrokeshire will be hosting special events and activities on or around Roald Dahl Day.

The celebrations get underway at St. Davids Library on September 13 where children can pop in throughout the day and design their own ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ bookmark.

Also on September 13, Pembroke Dock Library will be hosting a special Roald Dahl Day coffee event, in support of ‘Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity’. Choose a book and enjoy a cuppa between 10.30 am and 4.30 pm.

And later the same day, you can create your own dream jar and enjoy a ‘whipple-scrumptious’ tea party at Tenby Library from 4.30 pm. The event is suitable for ages two years and up. Please contact the library on 01437 775 151 to book a place.

Throughout the week, children visiting Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven libraries during regular library opening hours will have a selection of Roald Dahl colouring sheets and word searches to choose from.

Fishguard Library will be hosting a special ‘James and the Giant Peach’ themed visit from Dr. Beynon’s Bug Farm. The date and time for this event is still to be confirmed, so please contact the library on 01437 776 638 for further details.
