Folly Farm, Begelly, enjoyed celebrations with an unusual visitor this week. Cedric the Dragon, cuddly mascot of children's charity NCH Cymru, visited the family adventure park to join in the fun of the new Cedricmobile ride. The children's ride, based on Cedric himself, is the only one in Wales and is the latest novel addition to Folly Farm's fun fair. All proceeds from the ride will be donated to supporting the work of NCH Cymru's 62 projects within Wales, helping vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged children. NCH Cymru runs the Children Centre on Winch Lane, Haverfordwest. NCH Cymru fund-raiser, Nina Ping, stated: "Children visiting Folly Farm have been very enthusiastic about the new Cedricmobile. It's great fun for the younger ones and it's a fantastic fund- raiser." Cedric's visit also served another celebratory purpose. On cue, the friendly dragon began the official countdown to the biggest snooker tournament ever to be held at Folly Farm - the Texaco Charity Snooker Challenge. Said Nina: "Folly Farm, in conjunction with Texaco, is also hosting the NCH Charity Snooker Challenge in the Follies Theatre on May 27-29. We hope the event, featuring an impressive line-up of top names in British snooker, will be well supported by snooker fans from across Wales. By organising this event, Texaco's aim is to help us on the road to the Texaco £1,000,000 Challenge target." Texaco's Phil Thompson added: "We are delighted to bring back the Texaco Charity Snooker Tournament to Pembrokeshire and look forward to raising thousands of pounds for NCH." Tickets for the snooker event are available from Folly Farm, at reception or by 'phoning (01834) 812731. -
