Tenby RNLI is both grateful and humbled by the response of Pembrokeshire's CCTV companies. Following the spate of much publicised vandalism at the town's new lifeboat station, three separate security companies offered to supply and install security equipment free of charge. "We eventually decided to take up the offer from Tony Edwards, of Powersafe CCTV, whose staff have since fitted one of the latest digital DVXi CCTV systems, which can also be monitored directly from Tenby police station," said lifeboat operations manager, Fred Broomhead. "We were reluctant to use RNLI funds destined for life saving to protect our new building and since we failed to get a local authority grant towards the equipment, it looked likely that we were going to be left unprotected. "We are very humbled by these offers of free equipment that also came from Gary Thomas, of CCTV4U, and Andrew Thomas, of West Wales Digital TV "We are also very grateful for the support and advice from Tenby Police Inspector Les Clark and CCTV and community liaison officer, PC Max Bevan, who gave advice on position and set-up of the system. "We hope to open the new station to the public full time in September. The new souvenir shop will also be open, although Tenby's new lifeboat will not arrive until mid-November.
