CATERING student, Carla Allen, who attends PRP- Training Company at Tudor Lodge, Jameston, has made the final of a national catering competition. The company has a training kitchen at Tudor Lodge which is used by students aged between 14 and 16 attending the Choices project. The students are from local schools and follow a vocational training programme in catering with PRP Training. Sixteen-year-old Carla from Neyland is one of the students of the project's catering tutor, Jamie Bessant, head chef of the Tudor Lodge Restaurant. Carla has been selected for the final of the Caterer and Licensee Student Young Chef of the Year 2007, which is open to students attending full or part- time catering courses. She will be having a cook-off against seven other finalists who are from all over the UK and will have 40 minutes to cook two portions of a two-course meal. The cook-off is being held at the hotel and catering show in the Bournemouth International Centre on Tuesday, March 6.
