Local police are investigating after card reading skimming devices were installed in cash machines in Narberth and Saundersfoot.

In the first instance, some time between Wednesday, June 15, and the following day, persons unknown inserted a card reader skimming device into the card slot of the ATM outside the Post Office in Narberth's High Street, along with a camera to record pin numbers.

Police believe that the Post Office and engineer were alerted very quickly over the matter and the items were removed promptly to prevent any card details being compromised.

On the same Wednesday, a skimming device was also located in the ATM outside The Pharmacy on The Strand in Saundersfoot.

Police say that the fault was detected very quickly and the device was removed by officers immediately.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen someone acting suspiciously around these two cash machines on the dates given.

Police have also issued a warning for people to take care when using ATM machines, making sure that they cover their PIN/keyboard and never disclose their PIN number to anyone. ATM users are also advised to check machines prior to use.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or with any information is asked to contact PC1161 Nix at Narberth police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
