Withybush Hospital has received a cash boost from the Welsh Assembly that will allow substantial improvement to the building and its infrastructure. In the current year, £900,000 has been earmarked for areas of particular risk. This will be used to continue window replacement, to re-surface car parks and to improve facilities for those with disabilities, including toilets and entrances. The money will also allow purchase of specialist equipment and will fund improvements to the hospital's steam boiler - work already started. Over the next two years, an allocation of £3.1m will be used to improve the hospital's infrastructure. This will include new bed lifts, upgrading of water services and electrics and also a £1.2m upgrade of the operating theatres. "We are delighted to have received this level of capital funding," said Mary Hodgeon, the Trust's acting chief executive. "This will allow a substantial upgrading programme that will put us on a good footing for the development of services that we anticipate in the next few years."
