Carolynne Rogers is the lucky winner of Learning Pembrokeshire's prize draw. The adult learner won £50 in a draw for members of Learning Pembrokeshire's focus group. The former youth training worker, who lives in Freshwater East, was presented with her cheque by the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Steve Watkins, at the official opening of the new Pembroke Dock Community Learning Centre at Albion Square last Friday. "I'm thrilled to receive the cheque and hope to use it to take part in another course," she said. "Adult education has a vital role to play in this day and age when everything is changing so fast." Learning Pembrokeshire is the adult education arm of Pembrokeshire County Council and provides around 700 courses a year to thousands of adults in the county at over 70 locations. Carolynne, who has two grown-up children, has already attended an ECDL computer course at Narberth and a pilates course in Pembroke Dock and now hopes to use her prize money to go on a digital imaging course. "I would like to carry on doing an IT course of some kind," she said. "I think the Learning Pembrokeshire service is brilliant and the tutors have been excellent."
