Those taking part in the 2012 Tenby Retained Firemen's Carnival all deserve gold medals for hurdling the poor weather and putting on their own version of the 'greatest show on earth' at this year's event which took on an Olympic theme.
Participants turned out in their best sporting attire to produce a colourful collection of fancy dress walkers and fabulous floats, which always proves to be one of the highlights of the resort's summer scene.
With plenty of Olympians running in for the event and even a wannabe Bradley Wiggins zooming in straight from his gold medal victory, there were plenty of high-fives exchanged amongst Tenby's very own Team GB members.
There was also an abundance of characters on display from the world of film, television and sport, with members of the royal family honouring the carnival too with their presence in the Queen's Jubilee year.
The Carnival Queen herself, Grace Tucker and her attendant Jenna Tucker, were all smiles at the parade, along with the Carnival Princess Gracie Adams, and attendants Grace Taylor, Eleri Payne and Clarrice Griffiths.
Despite a quick shower before proceedings got underway, the weather for the carnival parade remained dry and so did most of the participants and spectators too this year, as everyone more or less adhered to the firefighters' request not to throw water during the parade for health and safety reasons.
With the Swansea East Carnival Display Band leading the procession into town, along the South Parade and eventually into Tudor Square, before heading to the harbour where the Deputy Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, presented the winners with their prizes, with the Hitchen family from Stockport judging the best floats and Mark Richards from Pembroke picking out the winning walkers.
Once again, the main recipient of the money raised by Tenby's dedicated band of retained firefighters during the course of the day will be the firefighters charity.
