Carmen May, a Year 5 pupil at Templeton School, has been successful in a competition run by a children's newspaper. Carmen wrote a poem about the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War Two, based on an article in the newspaper by a Royal Air Force officer who researched the experiences of Avis Parsons, who joined the WAAF 70 years ago. Carmen was a runner-up and received RAF branded materials as her prize.
