OPERA Box presents Bizet's greatest opera at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven on Wednesday June 11 at 7.30 pm.
'Carmen' has been called the perfect opera. It has everything romance, passion, violence, pathos, humour, sex and death.
It also has some of the greatest melodies and ensembles ever composed and its eponymous heroine mad, bad and dangerous to know, but utterly irresistible is one of the immortal characters in music drama.
The beautiful and wild gypsy Carmen entrances and bewitches all the men who meet her, but it is Don Jose, the army corporal, and Escamillo, the famous Torreodor, who capture her wandering attentions. But, it is the passion she evokes in these powerful men which eventually causes her downfall.
A tragedy, a thriller, a love story, it is the greatest opera of all time.
This production is sung in English and is bursting with the stunning colour of traditional costumes.
