The club certainly had a very busy time last week and saw its numbers swell to back over 40 members. How nice to see the young people coming to the club and enjoying the different activities on offer. The club was recently very fortunate to secure a grant from the Celtic Riverside Trust, so some of this was put to very good use this week. The youngsters made various types of bird boxes, 21 in total. Mark Taylor very kindly gave up his evening, along with his two colleagues, Laurie and Alex. They helped the members make the bird boxes. Mark had also kindly given up his time during the week to cut and prepare the wood. The club are extremely grateful. It is always appreciated when people give up their time and in particular when it gives the young people a chance to experience something they may not otherwise get the opportunity to try. Thanks also to Gwen who once again came along to the club and held a craft night, making leather key fobs and wrist bands. It was a very enjoyable evening. The club also had its annual trip to the pantomime in Swansea. Ninety-two in total went along and it really was an excellent show, made even better this year by the appearance of our young Charlie, who went up on stage with the cast. Some of our party also found themselves soaked with water and with 'custard' pies on their heads, much to everyone's amusement (well those of us who escaped the water and foam!). A huge thank you to all who helped organise the trip, in particular to Gwen for once again collecting the money and Janet for doing the dreaded seating plan! Once again behaviour was exemplary, making Carew Youth Club a club to be proud of - well done and here's to the next panto!
