Carew Wesley Methodist Youth Club held a coffee afternoon last Saturday in memory of the late Jayne Arnold.

Jayne sadly passed away on March 27, aged 44. Her two children, Angharad and Tom are both members of the Youth Club.

Whenever Jayne's health permitted, she would go along to club and offer her support, always smiling and full of ideas.

It was Jayne who first suggested holding a sausage and mash evening that proved to be an immense success, not only for raising funds for the club, but also providing the opportunity for members of the community to get together for an enjoyable evening. The club have continued to hold these evenings on an annual basis.

Said Joe Hicks: "We would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone that came along and supported the coffee afternoon.

"So many people helped out in so many ways there are far too many to mention.

"Thanks to all those who gave up their time, donated goods, baked cakes, washed dishes (so many dishes!) and ran the stalls."

The Club would like to say a special thanks to Colin and Denny for the loan of their marquee, which proved invaluable. Also thanks to Jayne's husband Mike and their family who came along - many travelling long distances to join us.

Added Joe: "We were overwhelmed by the level of support and never anticipated that so many people would join us."

All funds raised were in aid of Kidney Research and the club is pleased to announce that £1,000 has been raised for this very worthy cause.
