Penarth 1 Carew 3

With the Carew 'keeper Leigh Thomas going to the wrong entrance of the sports complex in Penarth, Carew were forced to start the game with only eight players and no goalkeeper, leaving Dave Ferguson to step in as a 'kicking back'.

Despite having a depleted side for 15 minutes, Carew dominated the play by taking the game to Penarth.

With their full team on the pitch and Thomas in goal, Carew now started to turn on the style and it was not long before Aled Griffiths latched on to a Sam Barton cross to put them 1-0 up.

Some unsavoury 'slating' by Penarth and persistant obstruction in trying to put Carew off their game, only egged on the Pembrokeshire side. Griffiths got his second, deflecting a hard struck ball from Wheeler into the goal to make it 2-0 as the teams turned round at half-time.

Penarth were awarded a short corner at the start of the second half and from the ball struck outside the circle into the goal, a goal was awarded.

The remainder of the game was a midfield battle, with Tom Ferguson cementing his position in winning most of the ball. There were fine performances from the back four of Bowles, Cole, Pritchard and Read, with young Joel Meredith playing well at left-half.

Captain Emlyn Williams, having the better of the right-hand side of the pitch, had the last say when he struck home a reverse strike for Carew to leave them 3-1 winners.
