Carew Cheriton cemetery: The area maintenance department were dealing with the request to widen the road by taking down part of the bank/hedge. PLANNING

PCNPA had approved a dormer window at Woodland, Carew Mountain. Erection of one dwelling - Plot 18, Sageston Fields. No adverse comments or objections Erection of four dwellings - land adjacent Court Farm, Redberth. The following observations from members were noted - height of the walls was important due to obscuring the highway when exiting from the site; potentially too many access roads onto what was already a trouble spot due to the recorded and documented excess speeds through the village. The clerk was to chase up the traffic department with regard to the application made to site speed cameras in the area.

FREE HOME FIRE SAFETY CHECK

Fire officer Jonathan Llewellyn joined the meeting to discuss this matter in more detail. He pointed out that this was a service provided by local fire fighters who would visit people at home to provide advice on home safety. He pointed out that this service was free of charge and available to anyone who requested it. The service also encompassed other safety issues if needed, not just fire safety. Requests for visits could be made by contacting Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service via e.mail - [email protected]">[email protected] or by telephoning 05511443010. Fire officer Llewellyn was thanked for providing such a comprehensive and informative talk on the Safety Check Service and then left the meeting. CORRESPONDENCE

Play area: Due to an oversight, the clerk reported that the rental for the play area at Milton had not been paid since 2003. The amount was £15 per year and it was agreed by all present that this matter be rectified immediately. £15 x 4 = £60, to be paid from 2003 until present to the owner of Milton Caravan Park. It was also agreed to access the lease agreement for Milton play/amenity area from the Barclaysafe. Policing Plan - Dyfed Powys Police Authority: Priorities for the community council would be - 1. 'Bobby on the Beat'; 2. Greater emphasis on speed control; 3. Greater emphasis on prevention of vandalism.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Another councillor: Arrangements were to be put in place to advertise for another community councillor. Footpath litter: The school footpath was littered with dog mess and there were no dog litter bins along Birds Lane. The clerk was to chase up the county council and dog wardens regarding the provision of bins. Redberth speeding: The county council were to be asked to site the mobile speed indicator at Redberth and to chase up their request to Dyfed Powys Police for use of speed camera vans in the area. It was agreed to chase up a reply from the county council's Streetcare department regarding digging up the detrunked road and pavements after new pavements had been laid in order to new pipes. Smelly vehicle: Concern was expressed regarding a smelly waste vehicle at the end of Bartletts Well road. It was suggested that it be parked in the depot and not on the highway. Bike concern: Concern was also expressed about schoolchildren riding bikes with no lights and on low bikes across the road. The headmistress at Sageston School was to be contacted regarding this. Hedges: The shaping of hedges at Milton and Sageston roundabouts was still awaited. School meeting: Clr. Brock extended an invitation from the chair of Sageston School Council for the community council to attend one of their meetings. It was agreed that this would be either in January or February. Paddock Walk: Clarification was required on whether the Paddock Walk was a bridleway. Horses being ridden along the walk were leaving horse mess behind and this was impeding pedestrians, wheelchairs and pushchair access.
