Eight members attended the annual general meeting of Carew Community Council. Clr. Marina Griffiths welcomed all to the meeting and informed all present that she would be standing down as chairman after four years in office. Clr. Griffiths thanked all for the support, help and guidance she had received from the community council. Clr. Griffiths then read out a note from Clr. Maurice Griffiths stating his intention to retire as a community councillor due to ill health. Clr. Brock extended thanks from all present for the four years of enjoyable meetings chaired by Clr. Marina Griffiths. The clerk then added her personal thanks to the chairman for the four years of dutiful service. Proceedings then returned to the second item on the agenda, namely, nominations and election of officers. Following the due process it was agreed and declared that Clr. Andrew Blayney be appointed as chairman and Clr. Vanessa Thomas be appointed as vice-chairman. Clr. Blayney was then handed the badge of office from Clr. Marina Griffiths and took the chair to conduct the rest of the meeting.

MATTERS ARISING

A letter of thanks for the kind donation towards attendance at the Guide Camp in Denmark was received from Lucy Blayney. An email from the manager at Carew Castle was received regarding the wall adjacent to the Mill Pond. He had inspected the damaged caused by a falling tree and would inform the highways department to effect repair. The manager was to be asked why the mill pond was emptied so frequently, more frequently than in past years. He was also to be asked also if the water could be retained particularly at Bank Holidays and when visitor numbers were expected to be high. There had been comments passed by visitors to the area particularly over the Easter period and at the recent 500 Tournament.

PLANNING

With regard to the planning inspectorate report about Freestone Meadow, following scrutiny of the conclusions of the inspectorate and discussion of the various points of the inquiry, it was agreed to write to PCNPA with comments. The following applications had been passed: Catslide Dormer, The Coach House, Carew Newton (PCNPA); erection of garage, 7 Steps Road, Sageston; erection of a conservatory, Woodlands, 2 Cromwell Drive Redberth (PCC). Planning applications received: lean-to extension, New Shipping Farm, Cresselly; extension, Lake House, Carew Cheriton; Plot 30, Sageston Fields. All plans were scrutinised and there were no adverse comments and no objections.

PAYMENTS

Hall fees, clerk's salary March and April, insurance from Allianz Cornhill and a donation to Pisgah Baptist Church towards the upkeep of the cemetery.

CORRESPONDENCE

Kerbside recycling posters were received and will be displayed. The Local Development Plan received. Diversion of public Footpath No 5/7 (part): Following discussion of the planned diversion, there were no adverse comments and no objections. Proposed Supplementary Planning Guidance: Design Guidance for Sustainable Development Consultation Document. This letter from PCNPA was designed to help guide those applying for planning permission to develop proposals in ways that will reduce levels of climate changing emissions through improving energy efficient design, build and heating as well as raising standards in general. The consultation document is available on the PCNPA website at http://www.pembrokeshirecoast.org.uk">www.pembrokeshirecoast.org.uk. Society of Local Council Clerk: The clerk was to check whether there were any local members and what benefits there might be in joining. Possible increase in the number of members to be appointed to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority: A letter from the Welsh Assembly Government supported an increase in the number of members on PCNPA from 15 to 18. It is anticipated that two additional members will be appointed by PCC with one additional WAG member. The community council's views were sought on this increase in membership. Following discussion, it was agreed to ask WAG if there was a community council member, and if not, suggest that the two additional members come from the community councils within the National Park.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Speeding at Redberth was to be brought to the attention of PCC again. Dog fouling along Birds Lane, particularly between Bartletts Well Road and Kesteven Court, was to be brought to the attention of the dog warden who was to be contacted regarding provision of dog mess bins on any of the three-four lamposts along that route. A litter bin was needed along Birds Lane and also the litter bin was missing from inside the play area at Carew. Council was awaiting the street works department reply on the detrunked road at Sageston. It was reported a metal gate was missing at top of detrunked road, Sageston, at the entrance to the bypass. The clerk was to contact the Trunk Roads Agency regarding the outstanding works to the roundabouts and repair of stone walls bordering the bypass at Milton. Grass cutting was also outstanding in these places, along with topping of hedges that obscure the view of the castle. Repairs that had been effected to the bridge from caravan site to the play area in Milton were reported. A report was received on the very successful Carew 500 Tournament which had attracted a huge amount of visitors to the area. The Carew 500 committee would be producing a DVD of the event. All agreed this was a spectacularly successful event and it was agreed that a letter of congratulations be sent to chairman of the Carew 500 committee. It was reported that at long last the car park entrance to Carew recreation field had been re- tarmaced. However, the white lines at the layby outside the public toilets had still not been replaced. A letter of thanks was to be sent to local residents for the much appreciated and public spirited spruce-up of the Flemish Chimney. The next meeting will be on Thursday, June 14, at 7 pm.
