Eight councillors and one member of the public were present at the November meeting of Carew Community Council, when among matters discussed were the following:
PLANNING
Dwelling and garage - land adjacent to A477, Redberth. Discussion and inclusion of member of the public in the background to this application. The application falls outside the settlement boundary. Extension to dwelling, 1 Branders Park, Cresselly. Following discussion, there were no negative comments on this application and it was to be recommended to the county council that it be granted. It was noted that the following application had been granted by the county council: Extension to dwelling for disabled person and rebuild garage - 46 Kesteven Court, Carew. The following application had been refused: Erection of one dwelling - outline - land south of Rosewood, Redberth.
MATTERS ARISING
Senior citizens Christmas dinner. An update was given on the compilation and distribution of the letter. Eighty-six people had replied. It was agreed to donate an MP3 player (a free gift from Viking when envelopes were ordered) to the raffle. Christmas festivities: New tree lights were to be purchased and the Christmas tree was to be erected at the beginning of December. Water sampling at Milton: A memo was received from Pemrokeshire County Council outlining the sampling that had taken place. It was felt that the soil at the recreation park and sediment sampling, rather than just water quality sampling, should also be undertaken. The clerk was to write suggesting this. Precept: Councillors discussed community projects that needed to be financed or supported for 2006/ 7. The question of the precept was to be placed on the agenda for the January meeting for full and final discussion before submission to the county council.
CORRESPONDENCE
Dyfed Powys Police Authority - Annual Policing Plan 2007/08: The community council's priorities were as follows -anti-social behaviou; petty vandalism; increased beat officer patrols. Off Street Parking Places Variation Order from Pembrokeshire County Council. This related to proposed changes in existing car park charges. Seventeen car parks throughout the county faced either an increase in charges or charges where there were previously none.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The county council were to be contacted on matters relating to Carew Bridge road surface, traffic island problems, and a sunken drain, possibly due to a broken pipe. Gracie Scourfield had won a national song writing competition, namely Festival 4 Stars in London. A further letter of congratulation was to be sent.

Reopening of footpaths: County Clr. Neale discussed grant aid available for improving local walkways and footpaths. Extension to cycle path - Carew Cross to Carew: This matter was moving forward and he would advise on further developments. Updates were given on water pollution and infestation problems locally. Community councillors will meet at the turning on of the Christmas tree lights today (Friday). The next meeting will be at the community council dinner at Carew Inn on Thursday, December 14, 7 for 7.30 pm.
