Prior to a recent meeting of Carew Community Council members met with the police and members of the public to thrash out anti-social behaviour problems which had occurred in the area during the last few months. Police Sergeant Donna Thomas from Tenby Police Station attended the meeting and a catalogue of incidents from both community councillors and the public were then reported and duly noted. At the end of the full and frank discussion, it was agreed that a log of anti-social behaviour and damage to property be kept. This evidence would be presented to the police and, depending on the seriousness, appropriate action would be taken. Members of the public need to be aware that every incident needs to be reported as this will help to formulate an action plan to combat the problem. Regular patrols would be encouraged and Sgt. Thomas would report back to the community council in due course. When the monthly meeting, began, the following matters were discussed:
MATTERS ARISING
Birds Lane: Following recent correspondence on this matter, a site meeting was arranged by the county council's cabinet member for highways, Clr. Brian Hall, traffic manager Mr. John Price, county councillor David Neale and Clr. Andrew Blayney. Various options were discussed and as a result, rubber monitoring strips are be erected along Birds Lane to check speeds and volume of traffic. Depending on the results of this digital flashing speed signs (temporary in the first instance) could be erected. These signs would indicate to drivers when their speeds exceed 30 mph. Also, again depending upon the results of the monitoring strips, more bollards could possibly be erected around the natural traffic calming areas along the length of Birds Lane. Continuation of footpath through Sageston village: This was also discussed at the site meeting. Cabinet member for highways, county councillor Brian Hall has given assurance that this will be continued and a date for completion has been suggested. At the end of this, the road would be redressed and white lines applied. Carew Bridge: Letters were received in response to the council's letter from Phillip Roach PCNPA and Nick Ainger MP and members were informed that the matter was also discussed at the site meeting with the cabinet member and traffic manager.
