As the clock turns back five centuries for the eagerly awaited Carew 500 Pageant early next month, modern-day visitors will find some temporary and enforced changes on access in the local area. Over the May Day bank holiday weekend - Saturday 5th to Monday 7th inclusive - the millpond picnic site overlooking the castle and the approach road will be closed to vehicles. The castle car park, alongside the war memorial, will also have more limited parking available than normal, because of those attending the pageant. Special car parking for the pageant will be clearly signposted. The pageant - celebrating the 500th anniversary of the last Great Tournament - begins on Wednesday, May 2, culminating in all-day programmes on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
