Pembrokeshire County Council’s library service is inviting local carers for a cuppa and a chat to find out how libraries can best support them in their role as carer.
Drop-in sessions will be taking place at Tenby, Neyland, Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven Libraries during Carers Week.
Laura Evans, health and well-being librarian, said: “Carers are individuals who may not see themselves as carers, but as a parent, child, wife or husband, partner, friend or neighbour.
“They may not be aware that there is support available in libraries to help them in their caring role.
“Libraries offer a range of services such as a dedicated carers books collection, concessionary rates for carers, and free access to E-resources from home if you don’t have time to visit the library.
“We also have a library at home service if you unable to leave the house except for essential matters.”
Laura added: “We are always looking for ways to improve the service and would welcome feedback from carers about what else we can do to help.”
The drop-in sessions are happening in the following libraries: Monday, June 12 -Tenby Library, 10 am - 12 noon; Tuesday, June 13 - Neyland Library, 2-4 pm; Wednesday, June 14 - Pembroke Dock Library, 10 am -12 noon; Milford Haven Library - 2-4 pm.
Pembrokeshire Community Transport will also be at Tenby, Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven Libraries to give information about Cars for Carers and the new ‘Bus Buddies’ service.
Heléna Herklots CBE, on behalf of Carers Week, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many events taking place across the country to support local carers.
“Carers Week is an opportunity for organisations like Pembrokeshire libraries to get involved and to help us build carer friendly communities one brick at a time.”
