As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), a judicial review secured by four care homes in Pembrokeshire was continuing at the High Court in Cardiff.
The owners of Pencoed, Langton Hall, Woodfield Care Home, and Woodland Lodge are challenging what they claim is 'chronic underpayment' of fees paid by Pembrokeshire County Council.
If the homes - all of which have received excellent ratings from the care homes regulator, Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) - have to close, it would mean 86 elderly and frail residents having to move elsewhere.
The owners say the county council has failed to establish a fee for their placements which recognises their legitimate costs for providing the service.
Pembrokeshire County Council maintains that the level of fees it pays to private care homes is fair.
