A hotel worker from St. Florence could not believe her luck when she won a car in a prize draw - just days after her husband had to walk home from work following a breakdown. Phyl Watkins scooped the top prize, a brand new Ford Ka, in Top Ten Bingo's annual 'Ten-Ten Competition' held on Sunday between the group's 23 clubs across the country. She said: "I was completely taken aback. I don't drive myself, but this is a fantastic win because the car we have at the moment keeps breaking down. "We bought it last year for £400 after I won £200 and then another £300 at bingo. But last Sunday, my husband Anthony was on his way back from work when the car broke down yet again. The win couldn't have come at a better time." Phyl, 51, and 54-year-old Anthony married 30 years ago, after meeting on a bus trip to Longleat, and live in St. Florence with their three children. Phyl, who came to South Wales from her native Dublin to find work as a young woman, added: "Having a decent car at last means we'll be able to drive over to Ireland for a holiday at last. We've never dared risk it before!" David Arnold, manager of the Top Ten Bingo Club in Queen Street, Pembroke Dock, said: "We hold this prize draw every year and this is the first time our club has been lucky. And the Ka couldn't have gone to a more deserving person than Mrs. Watkins."
